Tonight’s game saw North of Scotland League Premier Division (Tier 6) host Highland League (Tier 5). Sunnybank’s Heathryfold Park is in the north west suburbs of Aberdeen. Entrance is behind the near goal end, next to the social club. The pitch has a wall, painted white, running around the perimeter, with the changing rooms and tea bar raised up in the near left hand corner, with a small overhang on the front. The two buildings that previously carried out these duties are still intact, set back tightly in the corner, with the old steps down to the pitch also still there. There are three dugouts here, with the two on the changing rooms side of the ground now the ones in use, with the one opposite now redundant.

Both teams were littered with trialists for this game (assuming that’s what the T stands for on the team sheet), with Sunnybank having nine of their 17 named players and Formartine 11 of 18, with five of them starting. Formartine opened the scoring after fifteen minutes, nicking a through ball past the ‘keeper at the near post and doubled their lead as we were midway through the half. Two minutes into the second half Sunnybank pulled a goal back, when a free kick was played square across the box and finished side footed from twelve yards. They threatened briefly, but Formartine always looked the more likely to get the next goal.
Just after the hour mark they made it 1-3, when a long ball was headed on, before lobbing the ‘keeper from the edge of the box and they made it 1-4 in the last five minutes, when a quick break saw a player played through and the ‘keeper was beaten again with a lobbed finish.
