This was day two of the SGU Cavalier Classic and the admission included this game, plus the 5pm one, although I was only going to do the hosts match before heading off to Tulsa for a soccer match in the evening. The game could have gone either way and I was thankful it didn’t go to overtime as it would have made it tight for reaching the main event of the day.

Jarvis Christian College is actually in Hawkins, some 25 miles west of here. They are currently building a new ‘soccer’ field at their campus, so are playing home games here in Longview.

Wiley College knew a victory would guarantee them a play off place and more importantly a home game. As it turned out, an unexpected defeat for the team above them in the table meant a second place finish and a bye straight into the play off semi finals, which would be held in Houston.

After turning up here before, only to find that the game had been postponed, it was second time lucky today. Well, lucky in the fact that I saw a match, but the quality was awful, especially Ecclesia College, easily the worst team I have ever seen in university football.

I had an option of leaving this one as the SCAC Championship Play Offs will be held here, but decided to do it for the actual home team. I should have left it, as this was absolute rubbish, neither side would have scored if they had played all day.

Apart from battling with rush hour traffic through the centre of Dallas, this was a nice easy double with the Paul Quinn College match played in Mesquite.

Paul Quinn College are playing their home games at Eastfield College whilst a new ‘soccer’ pitch is constructed at their own campus. This was a real bonus as Eastfield College only have a Women’s soccer team, so one that I would never have visited otherwise.
