The Westmorland F.A. Cup Finals are normally played at the ground of Kendal United F.C., but with the final being scheduled so late in the season, it meant it was unavailable, so they were switched to the excellent ground of Vale of Lune R.U.F.C. instead, even though it is in Lancashire!

Milnthorpe, the cup holders, were looking to win the trophy for the twentieth time in their history and Marsh never really looked like denying them. It took them thirty three minutes to open the scoring, but having broken the deadlock, it took them just six more minutes to race into a 3-0 lead. A deflected shot saw Marsh reduce the arrears just before halftime, but it was little more than a consolation goal. Three more goals, the last of which was a penalty, saw Milnthorpe cruise to a comfortable 6-1 win. The one sided match wasn’t a great watch from a neutral point of view, but the close on 9 hours spent behind the wheel, on a surprisingly trouble free journey both ways, were certainly worth it to tick off a rare ground hosting football.
